Becoming a Citizen of Solacia
Are you interested in becoming a Solacian citizen? If so, please complete the following steps to become one and receive a printable official certificate of Solacian citizenship. Note: Solacian citizenship does not grant residency.
1. Complete and submit the citizenship application form at the bottom of this page. You do not need to use your legal first or last name when completing the form, though you should be aware that the name you use to apply for citizenship with is the same that will be printed on any passports, IDs, or other official documents that might be issued to you. Your application may be denied on the grounds of having an offensive or otherwise unsuitable name attached to it.
2. If you have not already uploaded one along with your application, send a passport-quality photo of yourself to [email protected]. The requirements for Solacian passport photos are nearly identical to those for American passports, listed here. The general guidelines are that you must be standing against a plain white background, facing the camera directly, with your face well-centered and taking up most of the photo. Unlike in most countries, you may smile for your Solacian ID photo! Just be sure that your mouth is kept closed and your teeth are not visible. If you wish, you may send an additional photo of yourself that can be posted on Solacia's Facebook page and website (though it is completely up to you if you want to do this or not, and your name is not required to be displayed). Please note that we will never share your personal information or photos without your express permission. Immediately proceed to Step 3.
3. Pay a small registration fee. This costs about 5 USD and it can be paid by subscribing to the "New Citizen" tier on Solacia's Patreon page. After the first month, you are no longer required to pay any additional fees or taxes and may choose to unsubscribe entirely without forfeiting your citizenship status. While your support is very greatly appreciated, Solacia prides itself on being perhaps the only country in the world with voluntary taxation. If your name on Patreon differs greatly from the name you applied for citizenship under, please be sure to send an email to [email protected] letting us know so that we can properly recognize that your registration fee has been paid.
4. Wait for a response. This is likely to happen quickly, but it could take up to a week if Solacia's government office is very busy. If your application is rejected, we will tell you our reason/s why and you will likely be given the chance to resubmit it. If your application is accepted, you will be sent your personalized certificate of Solacian citizenship.
